What to expect from fire escapes
Treads That Shed Snow
Open-grate treads let snow, ice melt, and rain fall straight through instead of packing into a slick layer underfoot. That keeps the egress path usable in a Canadian winter without anyone having to shovel a fourth-floor landing.
Anchored Into Solid Backup
We anchor stringers and landing brackets into structural backup rather than soft brick veneer, with embeds sized for the real pull-out and shear loads. On older masonry walls that means coordinating fixings to the structural wythe behind the face.
Hot-Dip Galvanized Throughout
The whole assembly is hot-dip galvanized after fabrication, so the zinc coats inside connections and cut ends where exterior steel usually starts to rust. It is the finish that lets a bolted egress stair survive decades of weather without a repaint cycle.

The Grate Guys builds fire escapes around drawings, measurements, traffic duty, finish exposure, and installation constraints using mild steel, structural steel, galvanized finish, powder-coat, stainless details, or aluminum where the site calls for it, made to order in our Toronto shop, licensed, insured, and WSIB-covered, with a workmanship warranty on every order, supplied and installed across the GTA and shipped Canada-wide.
